This week's American Idol experience was not only competitive and entertaining, but simply emotional for all. The contestants continued to compete for the top spot on Idol in Vegas embracing the theme, The Beatles Love Stage. Which contestant embraced this challenge, which first five contestants secured a spot in the top 24 Wednesday night and which contestant got married in Vegas?
American Idol: Vegas Week
The week in Vegas, for the contestants, was not easy-it was an emotional, roller-coaster ride for all. Although Ashley Sullivan almost called it quits the week before Vegas, she pulled herself together and did well, but not well enough to impress the judges. But not all was lost, Ashley and her boyfriend decided to take advantage of their time together in Vegas and got married! Good for them.
As you know, Idol lowered the age for contestants to 15 this season; of course, a handful of 15 year-olds impressed the judges and got their gold ticket to Hollywood. Some of them even made it to Vegas, but The Beatles Love Stage was somewhat of a tall order for some in this age group; for example, some of the 15 year-old contestants claimed that they had never heard a Beatles song. Yikes! Nevertheless, the performances of the young contestants like Jacee, Scott McCreery and Thia Megia helped them score more points with the judge panel.
Robbie Rosen, Aaron Sanders and Jordan Dorsey closed out The Beatles Love Stage with a rockin' performance. The judges smiled big and cheered. Could these three be some of the judges' favorites?
Idol's Top 40 in LA: Judgement Day
After an emotional and a rigorous week in Vegas, the judges hand-picked their top 40 and led them to LA where they continued to compete for the top 24. Wednesday night, the judges selected Idol's first five in the top 24: Naima Adedapo, Haley Reinhart, Ashthon Jones, Clint Jun Gamboa and Paul McDonald.
Emotions ran wild once again, but this time amongst the judge panel in LA. Although Jennifer Lopez fought for a spot for Chris Medina, she did not prevail. Medina's overall performance, genuine spirit and his story about his fiance captivated J. Lo's heart; she cried after telling Medina that he didn't make it in the top 24. Jackson and Tyler comforted J. Lo reassuring her that she did articulate their decision to Medina with great compassion; however, J. Lo said that she did not want to do this anymore. After some time and comfort, J. Lo came back strong.
